Management for amputation: finger or other part of the body

Step 1

 

First, use your hands to apply direct pressure. Then, use wet dressing, a non-stick dressing, or a clean wet cloth to cover the wound.

Use the bandage to apply direct pressure to stop the bleeding.

Step 4

 

Put the amputated part in a plastic bag or air-tight container. Close the bag/container firmly. Then place the bag/ container in water with some added ice (the amputated part must never come into direct contact with water or ice). Take the victim and the severed part to the hospital as soon as possible.
